From: JRM on 12 Feb 2005 17:03 In preparing to add SP2 by free CD, I wanted to download all the pending updates before I did anything else. My download bombed, possibly with KB888302, and I saw the 80070005. I read each entry about this wierd error message and appreciate all of you. Finally, I decided to select Start/Run/%windir%\inf to see what I might find in my Windows HP-Home. I found branches.inf, right clicked it and selected Properties. I noted that neither the Read or Hide boxes were checked. I checked Read and that activated Apply. Then I checked Hide. Then I unchecked Read and Hide and selected the Apply button. Can you believe that after doing those things all pending updates downloaded without a problem? Indeed they did! So can anyone make sense of this? A bobble in a DSL download? A fish that went over the dam? Or?
