him......but his basic political assumption has been that anytime
anything bad has happened -anywhere in the World- it was automatically
the fault of the United States (and Israel) and was all part of the
huge Zionist conspiracy that controls all of our lives.

Thus he manages to believe that Osama Bin Laden is actually a CIA
operative, that there are no actual Muslim terrorists, that the US
government is run from Jerusalem by the Mossad, that the WTC was
actually blown up (the airplanes that crashed into it had nothing to
do with the buildings collapsing), and that he's sane and everyone
*else* is psychotic.

In short; you got the "insane" part right enough, but before he
completely lost contact with reality he was a run-of-the-mill leftie
