From: Siv on 6 Jan 2010 05:42 Hi, I had a problem with the Reporting feature of SBS 2003 and had to remove and then reinstall the server tools / reporting feature. That is now working correctly and reports are being generated OK but for some reason this seems to have upset the AD Helper Service. Googling around and reading stuff on technet etc I have discovered that this is a logon user name problem or something user related. I have tried changing the AD Helper Service's logon details using both the system account and the administrator account and neither will allow the service to start. Can anyone advise me how to fix this. This is the error received when using the system account or the NT Authority\Local Service: Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: None Event ID: 7024 Date: 06/01/2010 Time: 10:26:25 User: N/A Computer: ACMSERVER Description: The SQL Server Active Directory Helper service terminated with service-specific error 3221225572 (0xC0000064). From: Siv on 6 Jan 2010 20:04 Ace, Thanks for your help. Had a look at the document you gave the link for and I don't get why the ADHelper service isn't working, when I set it to run under the domain admin's account (as according to the document you pointed me to it says members of the "Power users" or local "Administrators" groups have the authority to start ADHelper Service)?? When I set it to the domain admin account it still gives the error reported below?? Any help with this gratefully accepted as I am now more confused. Also, according to the link, for the other SQL services, they should be run under an AD account, such as the Domain Admin account. Further researching this, apparently the error, "(0xC0000064)" indicates a "No Such User." Windows Server 2003-based domain controllers may incorrectly return the "NO_SUCH_USER (0xc0000064)" status code in response to logon requests http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942636 What service pack is SBS and SQL? Going further, I found the following, quoted from: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Microsoft/Development/MS-SQL-Server/SQL-Server-2005/Q_22745487.html "Make sure you have the current service packs for SQL and SBS 2K3 (if you have SBS OS 2K3). This was my issue, I was a service pack behind. Once going through the update process all was corrected and I no longer get the error. Currently SBS 2K3 is up to Service Pack 2 https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=95AC1610-C232-4644-B828-C55EEC605D55&displaylang=en and SQL 2005 is at Service Pack 2 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/bb331754.aspx " I hope that helps. Ace, I think you may have hit the nail on the head. This SBS box has had SP2 applied and SQL Server 2005 also has all the latest SPs applied, however when I had to re-install the SBS Reporting I used the original SBS disks to re-install the reporting feature and of course they are not at SP2. I expect that this means that the system is SP2 and the SQL is at SP2 also but the version of the reports system is at the original version. Presumably if I applied SQL SP2 this might upgrade teh reports version to SQL SP2 and fix the issue? I would be interested to hear what you think of this?
