From: RobinBarsellotti on 25 Jan 2010 22:47 Will this motherboard take a 1Gb of memory in both the A0 and the A1 slot. I am running version 1.6 I think of the BIOS but the machine on boot will only see 131mb of memory and dxdiag only reports the same. Have tried swaping over slots but machine at time refuses to boot without 256 in slot A1. Never flashed a BIOS before so dont want to screw up my system even if I could locate a newer version of the BIOS to resolve the memory issue. Help needed please.

Tried googling your mb # but got no hits. Tried going to MSI site with mb # and still got nothing. This is an MSI mb? If not then who is the manufacturer? Do you have the manual available to check memory size configuration specs? If not then can you go to the maker's website to download it and check? In regards to flashing the bios, it would be worthwhile to at least go to the maker's site and check to see what newer bioses changed in comparison to the one that is current on your mb. -- Jan Alter bearpuf(a)verizon.net

Newer BIOS versions seldom (if ever) increase the amount of memory a board can handle. Like the previous poster Jan, I did not find any info on this board. Can you describe it a bit, especially the (northbridge) chipset it uses? However, newer bios can sometimes improve compatibility, by that I mean stability, with certain memory modules including larger amounts of memory. There is also a memory density issue, if you use a density higher than it can support you may only see 1/2, maybe only 1/4th the total memory, but your 131MB number is very strange to see, are you or the software you use to see this figure possibly rounding it off in some unusual way to come to a 131MB figure? More system details might help including age of system and CPU type... these details won't necessarily allow a definitive answer like the chipset would, but would at least narrow the search/possibilities a bit... and you didn't even mention the type or specific memory you're trying to use.
