I am working on a projct to add a dozen Windows 7 64 bit HP Printer and
Copier print drivers to a Server 2003 32 bit print server. All of these
network printers have existing TCPIP addresses on the network and the TCPIP
Ports are defined on the server. This is what I tried - Selected Add
Printer; Chose Local Printer without Auto detect; chose the existing IP
Address and Port as the Win XP 32 Bit driver; selected Have Disk; selected
the new Win 7 64 bit driver, provide a new driver name and printer driver
share name, the driver looks like it will install as it loads the files, and
then the "Printer driver was not installed. Operation could not be
completed." Ok - I am no dummy nor new to this so what the heck is going
on?!

Thanks!

I had exactly the same problem. In the end I just gave up and added the
printers locally since I'm the only x64 client on our network. I know
this doesn't help you, I just thought I'd let you know you're not alone!
It was only the HP printer drivers that I had problems with. Tried
printer specific drivers, HP Universal Printer Drivers, nothing would
work...

If you get to the bottom of it, let us know!

You have to add/install additional x64 drivers from the client pc(win7
or win xp x64) after you have installed x86 drivers on print servers or
vice versa.

ALSO you can use some web search
