From: Dave on 28 Nov 2009 21:29 I believe the next release will be out in December, but does anyone have a date? I was thinking of buying my wife a laptop for her birthday (12th Dec) and was wondering if it would be out by then, in which case I'd wait and install it. Otherwise I'll put 06/2009 on it. I suspect I am going to be out of luck, but the next release might just make it in time for me. dave -- I respectfully request that this message is not archived by companies as unscrupulous as 'Experts Exchange' . In case you are unaware, 'Experts Exchange' take questions posted on the web and try to find idiots stupid enough to pay for the answers, which were posted freely by others. They are leeches.

The next release is called "2010.02" (see <http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Main/downloads> which is quite likely to miss your wife's birthday by a bit. Have you looked at the Toshiba laptops preloaded with OpenSolaris? -- Chris

I installed 06.2009 on my laptop only to find out that the power management doesn't support suspend/resume. There's an open project for this, but it looks like there's a lot of work left. See: http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Project+suspend-resume/ I gave up and installed another OS. |
