Wrong, up and down, point to only one "dimension"; height. The dimension of a space or object is informally defined as the minimum number of coordinates needed to specify each point within it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimension > If you only look at with THREE dimensions, space itself > becomes stagnant as space is infinite and must have the > commencement point to the rate of SIX. > Time is linear and modular, and you must remember this, as > we will talk later of the connection between linear and also > lateral with regard to the lateral and conceptual > intelligence of the male. > With being able to control time, then in a time warp, time > can expand in all directions and in essence time can become > space. > The lineal warp that the stoppage of time produces is one > where total protection occurs to all inside, as no one can > access the places where time has ceased. > A neat maneuver for creating heavens and paradises that you > want to protect from undesirables.

I.O.W.s motion along any spatial axis or several at once, occurs within the temporal aspect of that dimension thus giving 3 time dimensions. Whether or not these 3 time dimensionsal aspects should be defined as dimensions is moot. In my opinion (no verification) time could even be a construct of consciousness and change and motion are mapped on to each spatial dimension as "time" by consciousness.
From: spudnik on 13 Jul 2010 17:47 this has already been done with quaternions; see _Variational Mechanics_ by Lanczos. I mean, that's what vectors & scalars be, by definition; so, you could legitimately call it "space plus time," and there is nothing weird about it, at all ... well, til Klein went and stringified Kaluza's 4+1 thing, wich I doubt can be done with ordinary quaternions, like special rel. can. Minkowski's sloganeering about spacetime, a mere phasespace, like Hamiltonians or Lagrangians, was just sophistry. and, he was a good God-am geometer! > If Process Physics ultimately makes better predictions than GR, then > the evidence would be in favor of space + time. --BP's bailout of Wall St. et les ducs d'oil, Waxman's *new* cap&trade (circa '91). http://tarpley.net
