Can anyone suggest software that will convert LPEC (Sony)?? to MP3 and
allow me to edit it somewhere before or after conversion.
Need to remove pauses before burning.

If you can't find an app to do specifically what you want you can always
play the LPEC and record it to wave. You can then edit the wave as you wish
and encode the result to MP3 with any of many, many editors/encoders.

According to Sony's voice recorder units, a Memory Stick Voice file is
encoded with Longterm Predicted Excitation Coding. Unless you've
bought their bundled software with a unit for directly working with
the encode, the answer is no. However, presuming you are able to
convert a file from the unit with Switch (I don't know one damn thing
about this outfit), there are several accessible audio editors for
subsequently handling common audio codecs. MP3Trim, for instance,
which is less an editor than a "splicer" for automating silence-
detection indicators across an entire range within values provided a
time-silence parameter.
