I only do the Carbon Copy clones every couple of months; it may be a bit OTT but I find it reassuring to be able to quickly boot from the external drive should a major problem occur at the wrong moment.

I just happened to be in PCWorld (there is one over the road from my work) and they had a 1TB firewire, it was the first time I had seen one under �100 so I got it. It seems a good choice, it is quiet and tucks round the back of the iMac, giving me a firewire passthrough connector. -- Woody
