Hi Wally! No actually you can clone everything with just BartPE alone. I
have done it many times. If it is a Windows 2000/XP system, I select all
from the root and unselect the hibernation and the swapfile files, as
you don't need to clone them. And I also unselect the System Volume
Information folder too. And you just drag all of the rest to another
drive and/or folder.

And during a restore, I wipe the hard drive clean and just drag the
files and folders back and you are all set. The only thing that might
pop up with another drive is the MBR might be missing. But that is easy
to add to another drive.

This really works Wally, I do it all of the time. Heck if you can get
SyncBack (the free version) to run under BartPE (I don't think I ever
tried it), you could do incremental backups too.

Well BartPE is actually a mini Windows and not Linux based. But Linux
should be able to do the same thing. ;-)
