Hello everyone,

Just a very quick question on software installation procedures.

When installing multiple applications in one go that do not require a what
is the preferred procedure:

1) Install Mode --> Install Application 1 ---> Execute Mode ---> Install
Mode ---> Install Application 2 ---> Execute Mode ---> Install Mode --->
Install Application 3 ---> Execute Mode ---> Install Mode ---> Install
Application x ---> Execute Mode

or

2) Install Mode ---> Install ALL Applications ---> Execute Mode.

If one of the methods above is not suitable could you let me know the
reasons please?

Thanks as usual
Lozza

Sorry All... the third line is supposed to read:

I would go with #1. To be honest, I'd seriously think about rebooting
between installs as well...

HI, Lozza,

There's no reason to flip between install mode and execute mode when
installing applications. It won't hurt anything, but the easiest way is to
not permit any logons to the server, install the applications, and then
return it to the farm when it's ready. As explained in the WS08 Terminal
Services Resource Kit, Install Mode copies registry entries to the shadow
key for copying to the user profile.

Hope this helps,
Christa [MSFT]
