From: Aju on 18 Mar 2010 20:42 When multiple resources are assigned to a task, typically all resources are booked for the entire duration of the task. But in real life, these resources are working one after the other. Is there any way to sequence resources as required? -- Project Fan
From: Trevor Rabey on 18 Mar 2010 21:18 Don't sequence resources. Sequence tasks. Break up the task with many resources into more tasks with fewer resources. Give us an example. -- Trevor Rabey 0407213955 61 8 92727485 PERFECT PROJECT PLANNING www.perfectproject.com.au "Aju" <Aju(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:73502453-BCFB-40DB-96C6-47FF8C1882C1(a)microsoft.com... > When multiple resources are assigned to a task, typically all resources > are > booked for the entire duration of the task. From: "Steve House" sjhouse at hotmail dot on 19 Mar 2010 08:30 As Trevor said, break it down into separate tasks. The formal definition of a "task" is "an observable physical activity performed by a unique resource resulting in a unique deliverable." Note that "unique resource" in this context can be more than a single individual, it can be a team working together whose skills collectively make up a unique package of skills (a surgical team comes to mind). If you find you often have such resources are working sequentially on a task, it's very likely that the task is actually producing a number of different deliverables and you're not decomposing your project down into sufficient detail to effectively schedule and manage the work. What you're presently calling a task will become a summary task and all its component deliverables become subtasks inside it, the resources assigned to the subtasks. -- Steve House MS Project Trainer & Consultant "Aju" <Aju(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:73502453-BCFB-40DB-96C6-47FF8C1882C1(a)microsoft.com... > When multiple resources are assigned to a task, typically all resources > are > booked for the entire duration of the task.
