I used 4mm DAT tape years ago, and it was terrible. I would never use it
again. Mine were HP DAT-2 tapes (shows how long ago that was. The drives
were no good. I switched to VXA tape drives and have never had trouble
with them, other than wearing out after 5 years or so.

A lightening strike is when you are attacked by mad cosmetic dentists!

It can happen, and when it does, it ain't pretty.

Wrong. It is only OCCASIONALLY a discussion group
about C; mostly, like most "discussion" groups, it is
off-topic Rorsharch [sic] revelations of the childhood
traumas of the participants...

Oh I concure on that one. 4 mm drives are terrible. Some you
have to clear every seven uses too. Used VXA for a while, but they
got really expensive. Removable SATA drivers are a lot less
expensive and are really, really fast.

And, The customer has me going to there Monday to implement
a backup to one of his M$ workstations. Gives me a
chance to see if ftpd ever got installed on the server.
