Indeed, I just tried it and it doesn't make any difference. Thank you for that. I had never seen those codes without the hyphens because that's how Eudora enters the code when you use a regcode.dat file to register and most people who don't use the regcode.dat file will copy and paste the registration from the confirmation e-mail, which also has the hyphens included. But maybe there are people who write the stuff down and type it in the registration window. Why doing something simple if there is a complicated way? ;-) -- Ajo Wissink

From: Knowledge on 5 Dec 2006 20:19 and where have you been? You've been away for about as long as I have been. Or maybe it just took you a couple of weeks to respond to my post. :-) It didn't cause me any problems Katrina. I've been around computers to know when something doesn't sound Kosher. After I looked at how huge the file was, and saw all the personal stuff that was stored there, I either deleted, or edited what I didn't want to get out. If I remove this final copy of Eudora 6.2.5.6 that is on my computer now, will it remove the hundreds of messages in my couple dozen mailboxes? I really don't want to lose all of these messages that I have saved over the years for various purposes. There was also a "DLL" that started with "avd" or something that wouldn't delete in the C:\Qualcomm\eudora directory. So I renamed it, then rebooted and removed the rest of the Qualcomm directory. I didn't see that file anywhere in the Eudora directory from which I am starting the program now. The program still won't startup though despite my deleting it. Uninstalling Eudora just uninstalls the program files, along with the shortcuts created by the install program and a few registry settings. It doesn't do anything to the data files, so your messages will be fine. (I do recommend backing up data files early and often though, especially when changing versions. Things that shouldn't go wrong sometimes do go wrong.) > There was also a "DLL" that started with "avd" or something that > wouldn't delete in the C:\Qualcomm\eudora directory. Maybe it was something added by some add-on to Eudora that you installed at some point. The one file that can be a problem when deleting program files is EuShlExt.dll, which is the dll used by LaunchProtect, the feature that warns you when you try to open a potentially dangerous attachment from outside of Eudora. If you have that feature turned on, you need to turn it off then reboot so that it isn't loaded any more and can be deleted. -- Katrina |
