I was using CBM4WIN 4.0 with the GUI4CBM4WIN 4.1 successfully
in the RTM version of MS Vista but suddenly, it can no longer see the
drive plugged into LPT1:

It does do a RESET ok so I know the drive is plugged in and responding
but when I try to do a status, I get:
status: The system cannot find the file specified.
and when I try to detect the drive, I get
No drives found, please check cbm4win installation and directory paths!
and 99, DRIVER ERROR,00,00 on the status line.
Any ideas? As I said before, it *was* working fine, then just started this
nonsense.

Sometimes CBM4WIN does something strange where I have to
uninstall/reinstall the driver. No big deal, just power off the drive,
do a 'instcbm -r', power on the drive, then do 'instcbm' again and it
usually comes back to it's senses.

Thanks for the quick reply, Pete! Your suggestion worked perfectly.
Now I can create those Christmas demo disks I want to run!

Thanks again,

this is the very first time that I hear from cbm4win
beeing installed to Vista. Does this work?
I always thought that Vista won't accepts uncertified
to better say unsigned drivers. And cbm4win definetly
is not signed since Open Source developers mostly are
not able to pay an annually fee for getting the
certificates.

This all looks to me as if the driver is not installed
or not running. Something that I would have expected.

So my question remains: Did this setup work at least
once under Vista?

afaik they only did that for the 64bit version
