Hello,
opensuse v11.2, linux 2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop x86_64
It seems that every time I print a page there is a one minute delay
while CUPS discusses things with the printer.
Is there a way to have CUPS talk to the printer just once and save the
info for later?

Borked networking might explain such a delay.

How often are you printing? If it's sporadic, then maybe the printer
goes into a "sleep" mode (I thought some did, to save power) and it has
to "warm up" each time.
