No offense, but has to problem of registry raping by the program's
installation been dealt with yet?

John Corliss BS206. Because of all the Googlespam, I block all posts
sent through Google Groups. I also block as many posts from anonymous
remailers (for example, usenet4all.se, x-privat.org, dizum.com,
tioat.net, frell.theremailer.net) as possible due to forgeries posted
through them.

No ad, CD, commercial, cripple, demo, nag, share, spy, time-limited,
trial or web wares OR warez for me, please.

Eh... make that "has THE", not "has to".

I don't think so...
maybe you could try to write to the author...

Done. However, I had hoped that you were somehow connected with the
development team, since you seem to mainly post here about updates to
the program.

With the exception of the registry bloat and the following:
_______________________________________________________________________
Why does the PDF conversion lose some images/tables?

The PDF conversion tries to extract the text and images from the PDF
file and convert them to and HTML based ebook. Some PDF files have
images in a format that cannot be extracted (vector images). All tables
are also represented as vector diagrams, thus they cannot be extracted.
_______________________________________________________________________

it otherwise looks like a good program.

I sure don't understand why it has to flood the registry with so many
entries. It might be because the program supports so many devices:
_______________________________________________________________________
At the moment calibre has full support for the SONY PRS 300/500/505/60
/700/900, Barnes & Noble Nook, Cybook Gen 3/Opus, Amazon Kindle 1/2/DX,
Entourage Edge, Longshine ShineBook, Ectaco Jetbook, BeBook/BeBook
Mini, Irex Illiad/DR1000, Foxit eSlick, PocketBook 360, Italica,
eClicto, Iriver Story, Airis dBook, Hanvon N515, Binatone Readme,
Teclast K3, SpringDesign Alex, Kobo Reader, various Android phones and
the iPhone/iPad. In addition, using the Save to disk function you can
use it with any ebook reader that exports itself as a USB disk.
_______________________________________________________________________

Maybe if the author modulized the program more and made installation of
some of them optional.

At any rate, as I said, I emailed the development team and hope to get
an answer soon.

Maybe also because it supports downloads from hundreds of news sources?
Be interesting to hear from the author.
