From: BigOwl on 10 Feb 2010 18:29 When I tried that procedure, Windows Media Player said it could not find such an extension and added (.) to the note...not sure what that means. I can open the file if I save it to the desktop or in Windows Explorer, but it still refuses to open as an attachment to an OE 6 email message. I found that I could open the file that I had moved to Windows Explorer. by clicking Window Media Player's Now Playing button, More Options, Network, made sure all Protocol boxes were checked, including one called Use ports 7000-7007 to receive data, then clicked Configure under Streaming proxy settings, clicked on Autodetect proxy settings and closed it out. That helped only the saved file in Windows Explorer. I also check the associations and find the settings are for Media Player. Any suggestions? "Bruce Hagen" wrote: > Save the attachment to your HDD. From: Bruce Hagen on 10 Feb 2010 18:44 One suggestion I always make is to start your own new thread instead of using someone else's very old thread. I only keep posts for a few days so I can only see the part you replied tp. <QP> Windows Media Player said it could not find such an extension </QP> What extension? WMP is Windows Media Player, not an extension. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP [Mail] Imperial Beach, CA "BigOwl" <BigOwl(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:4D260E5A-8246-4BB1-B971-AF59C4D03A60(a)microsoft.com... > When I tried that procedure, Windows Media Player said it could not find > such > an extension and added (.) to the note...not sure what that means. From: Michael Santovec on 11 Feb 2010 18:02 To open an attachment within OE there must be an OPEN action in the Windows File Associations for the file type. By default, Windows Media Player creates a PLAY action. See the Identifying Attachment File Types and Setting File Associations section of Decoding Internet Attachments - A Tutorial http://TechHelp.Santovec.us/decode.htm#identify -- Mike - http://TechHelp.Santovec.us "BigOwl" <BigOwl(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:4D260E5A-8246-4BB1-B971-AF59C4D03A60(a)microsoft.com... > When I tried that procedure, Windows Media Player said it could not > find such > an extension and added (.) to the note...not sure what that means.
