From: Peter Mac on 6 Jan 2009 04:45 Hi steve - I've searched the registry and found a folder or files Path REG_SZ C:\ProgrammeFile\MicrosoftOffice\Office\aware97.ppa. I followed this and found a file called PPT Tools Microsoft Powerpoint Addins (472KB). The properties say that the author od this is "An exulted Microsoft Office Fan". To me that seems a bit odd!! And just to avoid any possible confusion, this "PPT Tools" file has nothing to do with any of the PPTools add-ins (which I wrote). I'd at least have spelled "exalted" correctly, had I a mind to elevate myself. <g> Anyhow ... I think we're on the right track, but you didn't mention where you found this entry in the registry. That's the next thing to let us know about. Most likely you'll be able to delete the keys that point to this file and be done with the thing, but let's be sure it's safe first. > > "Steve Rindsberg" wrote: > > > Try searching the registry for > > > > aware97.ppa > > > > Let us know what you find and where. > > > > > > > > In article <85DA367B-C39D-4C99-BA65-B70EB775818A(a)microsoft.com>, Peter Mac > > wrote: > > > Shyam - many thankd for your suggestion, but there aren't any addins listed > > > in either folders! Small world, no?
From: Peter Mac on 8 Jan 2009 05:02 Hello Steve - I do seem to be in "exulted" company!! I found the file in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Powerpoint\Addins\OCRWARE. Clearly this all means something to you, but like DOS at one time I see the registry a bit like the drains of a house - totally necessary, but not something you want to play in unless you know what your doing! (Which I don't).
