As has been pointed out numerious times, things can change in a hearbeat and the AVG can begin to cause problems. Especially since the AV updates itself continuously. There's only one way to find out. Uninstall AVG (you're using an outdated version, BTW. It's at 9, now). Reboot, and custom reinstall WITHOUT the email module. You're already protected with the resident scanner. The email scanning is marketing hype. :

I called ATT "tech support", they verified my O2k settings, etc, then shuffled me off to billable "support", which I declined. I make the -ERR [SYS/TEMP] as a server error. Do you concur? Changes in what it scans for, perhaps. I wouldn't expect it to change how it logs on to the server, retrieves messages. >There's only one way to find out. AVG 9 is installed, w/o Email scan. Same message retrieve error persists. No difference. P "Law Without Equity Is No Law At All. It Is A Form Of Jungle Rule."

Yes, this is exactly what the log is telling you. > I make the -ERR [SYS/TEMP] as a server error. Do you concur? I do. The "[rx]" designation is for the messages that are coming in from the server. If this were happening to me, I'd log into the SBC Yahoo mailbox via a web browse and move the first message in the Inbox to another folder (create one if you don't have one handy), then try Outlook again to see if the problem is the message in the Inbox. While you're there, you might want to check the "spam" folder for accumulated messages. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]
