That's what I'm using. I paid about $170 for a used 8MB iPod Touch 2G on eBay. Current price on eBay is about $160 (including shipping). The problem with buying used iPod Touch handhelds on eBay is that most of them will have been used for a year or three, and now have a semi-dead battery. The replacement battery is cheap but a nightmare to replace. If you're handy with a plastic pry bar, this is not a problem. Make sure you get a 2G or 3G model. The first generation model has some limitations (no mic connection on the earphone jack, slower CPU, etc ). The iPod Touch wireless also has rather limited range due to the tiny antenna and substantial metal back shield. Make sure you a obtain a collection of necessary accessories (case protector, plug in mic, earphone, docking station, car charger, house charger, USB cable, etc.). Another option is to get a used iPhone, and just disable the phone section by leaving out the SIM card. That gives you all the features of the iPod Touch, with the addition of GPS, internal microphone, and nifty camera, for the same price. -- # Jeff Liebermann 150 Felker St #D Santa Cruz CA 95060 # 831-336-2558 # http://802.11junk.com jeffl(a)cruzio.com # http://www.LearnByDestroying.com AE6KS
