From: Ginny Caughey on 7 Sep 2006 13:23 Mullet, You'd need the Vulcan libraries but you wouldn't be using the source even though source to the Vulcan libraries will be included with the product. Instead you'd be using the MSIL that is generated and turning that back into C#. I am not a lawyer so I can't give advice on copyrights, but if you are legally entitled to use those libraries because you have a Vulcan license, then I don't see what the problem would be. -- Ginny "Mullet" <mullet(a)yahoo.ca> wrote in message news:6WXLg.6110$0k7.4840(a)clgrps13... > How would you handle the VO libraries? From: Sherlock on 7 Sep 2006 19:06 Ginny snip[ How would you handle the VO libraries? If you did convert these libraries to C# using reflection wouldn't you be in violation of the source code copyright? ] I think you would have a tough time ever winning this argument. Once everything is in MSIL it is just about open source anyway. The code is in a standard format for anybody to compile back to C# even with all the tools out there. Phil McGuinness
From: Sherlock on 7 Sep 2006 23:44 Ginny snip[ How would you handle the VO libraries? If you did convert these libraries to C# using reflection wouldn't you be in violation of the source code copyright? ] You are only bound by the copyright if you installed the program and accepted the EULA. There was a case where Borland tried to sue a company who split products from a bundled product group and sold them separately. Borland claimed the reseller was bound by the EULA not to do this but as he has never installed the software he is not bould by the EULA and Borland lost the case. As I understand it once your code is in MSIL you cannot copyright a format you do not own and can only copyright your source code... which you do not need if you can reverse compile it to say C# from MSIL. All very interesting. Phil McGuinness
From: Rene J. Pajaron on 8 Sep 2006 07:34 Ginny, What is Reflector? I am sorry, I am just missing something. I really wish there is 'easy way' to walk throught .Net with lots of VO code on my back.
