Unless I have misunderstood what you're saying, either everything on
your network is exposed to the pub, including your Time Capsule and your
Macs in which case having the the printer exposed to the pub is the
least of your worries, or you have nothing to worry about.

I can take my mac down the pub and access my wifi AP from there.

Whats to worry about? Unless you know the SSID and the password, you
not getting anywhere near it.

My point being that it doesnt matter if the printer is USB, I can still
get to it via the TC,

Sorry, I thought you were saying that because your network was visible
from the pub, you didn't want to risk having a networked printer on it.

I'd still prefer to have a proper networked printer though, as Ian
suggested.

That's well handy, a new slant on working from home :-)

Really, really check the price of consumables over time intend to keep
it. In my 9-5 these stack up a bit quicker, but it paid to buy the Xerox
was based 8560/8650 (never remember which way round it is) which was
600 over the cheap HPs/Brothers at 250, and the difference was paid
for in about 6 months with the cheaper consumables.

We've got some low use HP2600Ns which I seem to have to send carts out
to every other month, and the Xerox needs a set every 6 months. Don't
forget to note some of these printers needs toners & drums, as well as
other bits & bobs that run out at other intervals. Also note a lot of
these printers when new come with half life carts, the Xerox came with
full life carts.
