From: Scott on 25 Apr 2010 01:38 I am using Windows XP Pro and configured to connect the company's domain network. I would like to use the user account name of file server Windows standard 2003 as computer name. Is it possible with care or not allowed at all? Thanks, Scott

Much better to add a suffix for the NetBIOS name, e.g. Scott_PC.

In general it's best to try to avoid the personalization of hardware -or software. Remember that users change, and female users change their names. Having to rename equipment raises all kinds of problems, especially if that equipment is registered in an Active Directory.
