I'm talking about a DIRECT connection to the modem... not having to dial a number on the cell and put it in a cradel with a bunch of duct tape, and then type AT commands on my computer too. To make it clear:::::::::::::: I want to use my cell phone to call Andys BBs for free with my modem, not my fingers. Rick PS FYI ::::::: those are colons ......... these are periods ......... I don't really care. But, lets not lose track of the subject. If anyone indeed DOES have one of these docking stations, my question (s)is/was/are :::::: can you really "cut the cord", and if so... is there a time delay ALSO between the "home-phone" and the cell phone ?? Here is what Im driving at..... We all have experienced a transmission delay using a cell phone, the big quesion, is if one of these docking stations is FAST enough, to connect to a modem instead of a Wal-mart landline phone...... and STAY connected at "modem" speeds. I'm confident the docking station is nothing more than a voltage regulator, and just acts as a "quarterback", handing the signals coming through it up/or/downsteam, once it's "connected" to the "auxillary" phone (your wal-mart phone) I.e. The cell phone rings....it tells the docking station to send XXXX voltage to the "landline" phone, so IT Rings, and as soon as the landline answers, the docking station goes into "passive mode" so the handset (or modem) would communicate....JUST LIKE a cell phone would in an acoustic modem as said in Vanbuul link...only "hard-wired" I don't know...... It's an idea, and "good" information on the pro's and con's of these docking stations will NOT be found on the web sites of the companys that sell them. If someone out there has a docking station, and would like to post a message about the actuall quaility of sound ect. when they use it, that information would help. Im not asking anybody to start plugging one into thier modem to see if it works, I'll volunteer for that, and I have lots of computer and modems around here , I don't mind frying, if that is waht it takes...... but... I don't want to spend 150 bux right now, to buy a docking station, just to find out these docking stations don't even work worth a chit with a voice phone. Rick
