I am using the PMSM block and the PM synchronous drive block. The input of the PMSM should be the tourque, to use the internal mechanical system. To simulate the mechanics, I thought about using the simMechanics library. > But the PMSM (PM synchrounous motor drive) block does not have the mechanical connectors like the DC_motor block. > How can I connect the SimMechanics blocks, like the gear box to the PMSM block ? You mention Simscape and SimMechanics, which are you using for modelling the mechanical part of the system? Simscape is 1D in nature whereas SimMechanics is 3D. There are interface blocks in SimMechanics to interface a prismatic joint in SimMechanics with the translational domain in Simscape, and a revolute joint in SimMechanics with the rotational domain in Simscape. The PMSM block however, belongs to SimPowerSystems and takes either speed or torque as a mechanical input. So in Simscape or SimMechanics, measured either the speed or the torque of interest with a sensor block and feed it to your PMSM. The PMSM outputs the rotor speed and electromagnetic torque, which you can then feedback to the Simscape/SimMechanics part using actuators/sources blocks. Note this may create an algebraic loop.
