From: Don Phillipson on 15 Mar 2010 16:28 Warned by the signal "Hard drive failure imminent" on a 10 year-old Maxtor, with a second drive with enough space, I want to clone all onto the other drive (WD, 5 years old) to save configurations as well as data files. The PC is 10.y.o. so I am thinking of a traded-in faster IBM ($200 locally) but then I should want to transfer everything a second time. What is the best software for this? -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada)

I use Acronis True Image and like it a lot.

I'm a fan of Acronis True Image. At one point there were free, branded versions of True Image for owners of Seagate and Maxtor drives, so you might want to check that out. More in a bit, but you might want to check out this comparison: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_disk_cloning_software

The re-branded version of Acronis True Image for Seagate/Maxtor users is called Disc Wizard: http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=d9fd4a3cdde5c010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD
