I was absolutely wrong here. Your modem is a router. Below is a copy
of email I just sent to you (modifying your "from" address in the most
sensible way).

Hi,

This is Jeffrey Goldberg, one of the people who was giving you advice on
comp.sys.mac.system. I'm emailing this because I don't know whether you
are continuing to read comp.sys.mac.system.

I gave you some very bad advice that needs correcting.

I erroneously said that your Thompson Speedtouch ST516 v6 is a modem
only and not a Firewall/Router. I was completely wrong about this. It
is a full residential firewall and router. What this means is that you
should ignore my advice to purchase an additional router. That would be
a complete waste of money. If you've already bought it please return it
and accept my apology for the bad advice.

Sorry to have made such a blunder, one which may have led to a serious
inconvenience for you.

Cheers,

-j
