Better still, don't ever use software updaters-- they are terrible.
I always use an updater built into a hardware router or firewall.

unfortunately with Dyndns.org
most routers update too quickly now for them
and you get a "you are updating too often"
and if you do not use their software, they suspend your account for abuse :(

Dlink has their own free service also with it built into their routers.

1) That worked few months perfectly!
2) it must be on host because there are few virtual machines and I need to
administer it from that server
3) it cannot be on router (dyndns updater) because it doesn't work fine

I've used DirectUpdate successfully as well, with no ill effects and no
extra options you need to disable. And it fully supports DynDNS along with
lots of other providers and is completely configurable for how often it
updates, etc.
