Forward baised photodiode
Right, who would do such a stupid thing? This is for a piece of equipment that will be used by students. They get to hook up the photodiode and it's guaranteed that 1/2 of them will do it backwards the first time. (And the other half will do it backwards the second time.) The power supply that biases the PD is... 11 Jul 2010 02:56

Types of diode-connected BJTs

Non linear amplifier output
Hi All, I am putting together a basic circuit to add 10X gain to the output of an LM34 temperature sensor (to feed a voltmeter). So have kludged together an op-amp in the classic non-inverting input configuration. (1+R2/R1) Single supply, 12V. The problem is that the output shows high linearity error. ... 9 Jul 2010 16:06
Intrinsic 1/f noise in ADCs and DACs
Having spent my career trying to keep clear of the low baseband, I now find myself needing to do very precise measurements of acceleration at very low frequencies--like 1 nano g (1 microgal, 10**-8 m/s**2) per root hertz at frequencies from 10**-4 Hz to about 100 Hz. This is an interesting ride, and will be ge... 9 Jul 2010 12:46
Repairing expensive speakers
I am repairing two 15" Tannoys of the Gold series. A $5k unit if we could get them. Un oscillation in a cassette deck I was using, produced a very lowed sound that damaged the speakers. One of them has 6 turns of the voice coil, lose and can be glued back. On the old days I used to repair speakers using the ... 10 Jul 2010 10:31
