Video Encoder IC
Hi, Recently I purchased a small alarm clock with a hidden camera and motion detector embedded just to see how it works. It stores the video on a small MMC card and 1GB holds about 20 mins of footage. Upon evaluation I found a small 640 x 480 camera module connected to an STK1262 controller from Syntek. ... 21 Jul 2010 03:47

Transformer design software
Hi All, I'm looking for simple to drive, and cheap, transformer design software that can cope with saturable cores and various types of construction (e.g. 3 legged version with windings on both outer limbs and the inner limb, such is used in saturable core reactors). Basically I want to just input some stan... 19 Jul 2010 09:08
toroidal core for high current
How physically large does a toroidal core need to be to handle a 100A smps buck or flyback configuration? INK
For at least 30 years or more, a special ink has been used in the electronics industry for labeling transistors and ICs. That ink cannot be dissolved off the part, and it seems to not change color even at 230C or so. What type of ink is that, and what are the sources; eg: can anyone provide stocking di... 21 Jul 2010 04:51
generator hook up
I built and tested this. It seems to work well enough for what I'm going to use it for. The only problem is it toggles a few times before it latches, but it eventually does latch. This is the fault state where the generator feeds back into the dead grid. http://jons-math.bravehost.com/transfer.html ... 22 Jul 2010 19:08
witches' brew
We blew up a couple more of the SIP dc/dc converters, CUI type VASD1. This one is 12 volts in, +-15 out, rated 1 watt. I don't totally blame the bricks, since certain un-named parties likely shorted the outputs while probing channels, but it would be nice if they could stand a load short. There are 12 on this bo... 20 Jul 2010 19:05

[?] Measuring antennas with a Vector Impedance Analyser
I've been trying to optimise a quarter-wave antenna on a 433MHz transmitter using a T100 Vector Impedance Analyser. Attaching just the antenna directly to the T100 shows that it is already a good impedance match to 50 ohms, so I thought I'd check it out whilst it is actually attached to the hand-held c... 18 Jul 2010 13:47
