From: SuperGumby [SBS MVP] on 15 Nov 2005 17:20 that should be all that is required, you should no longer have a problem with ISA going into lockdown shortly after midnight. I'm still interested in the HDD specs, size and number of drives, raid type, interface type, rotational speed, partitioning and amount of free space as a percentage. From: Kim Webb on 21 Nov 2005 08:26 Well last night/early this morning we had the same issue witht he server going offline. In the event log this same error is listed This one at 11/20/05 at 9:50pm The device, \Device\Scsi\mraid35x1, did not respond within the timeout period. Then the same error another 50 plus times every minute until I came in and rebooted the server becuase it would not respond. There are also these two errors littered throughout the RAID one: W3SVC: A process serving application pool 'DefaultAppPool' exceeded time limits during start up. The process id was '8996'. Service Control Manager: Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the NtFrs service. (a bunch of these) KDC: The Security Account Manager failed a KDC request in an unexpected way. The error is in the data field. The account name was POSSuper and lookup type 0x8. Also the fax service restarted in the middle of all this as well. I check the mraid35x1 sevice and it is an: Intel RAID Controller SRCS16 PCI Slot 3 Driver 8/2/04 6.45.2.32 I downloaded the driver from intel and this is the latest one I can find. Under the RAID controller is: Megaraid LD 0 Megaraid SCSI Disk Sevice RAID Virtual Device My SYS and DATA devices where all my data is kept. I have 4 western digital 1600sd srives and one 2500sd drive. I'm not sure how to find this info out: raid type interface type - SCSI?? rotational speed - Western Digital RE WD1600SD 160GB SATA Hard Drive, 7200RPM partitioning and amount of free space as a percentage-SYS is 39gb with 22.5 free, data is 258gb with 100gb free.. I'm really hoping to figure this out so any and all additional advice would really be appreciated. Thanks.
From: Kim Webb on 21 Nov 2005 09:19 I found some specas for the drives. Also I remembered the 250gb drive was replaces by a 400gb drive soon after we received the server. Product Specification 1600SD: Data transfer rate - buffer to host (maximum burst rate) 1.5 Gb/s Data transfer rate - buffer to disk 61 MB/s sustained Average read seek 8.9 ms (average) Track-to-track seek 2.0 ms (average) Full stroke read seek (on reads and writes) 21 ms (average) Average latency 4.2 ms nominal Rotational speed 7200 RPM Read cache Adaptive Write cache Yes Buffer 8 MB and 16MB (WD4000YR) Drive ready time 7 sec. (average) Master/slave support Yes IORDY support Yes LBA support Yes Error rate (non-recoverable) <1 in 1014 bits read Warranty 5-year

The controller sounds like it's an LSI Megaraid controller. The driver you're using is the latest version available from LSI. If Intel doesn't offer the management software, you could try installing Powerconsole from LSI's website. Powerconsole can display the controller's log files which may contain additional info. I had a drive on an LSI Raid controller that kept going offline occasionally. LSI tech support recommended replacing the scsi cable, and that eliminated the problem.
