It was the 11.2 32 bit ISO image from
http://software.opensuse.org/112/en so if it wasn't standard it's a new
meaning of standard I don't know.

Went in absolutely fine.

Including the build-in webcam ?

I might give it a go, then.

Running Mint Linux now. It's cute and light, but I miss some tools (KPDF to
name but one). And Yast, of course.

Ah, haven't tried that.

Give it a shot, you can always toast it afterwards.

I've disabled the cam in BIOS from consuming battery, I have no use for
it. I've tested it though and it worked then. Kopete, I think.

I'm running 11.2 now and I haven't tried it in it.
I know it worked in 11.0 and/or 11.1 when I tested it then.

If you've seen YaST you'll miss it for sure.

Tip: Install on the card reader as dual boot. Works fine.
By the time 11.2 was factory I ran it a lot.

Recently I've installed 11.2 on the main SSD and I'll install the
current factory on the card again soon. Great way to test.

If you want lighter desktop you can use LXDE. It's light enouhg.
