The easiest way to download videos is with a Firefox add-on called
Download Helper. It has a way to convert from .FLV on the fly, but
I haven't figured out how to get the conversion to work. Some stuff
needs to be installed where it can find it.

However, I can play .FLV files using MPEG Streamclip.

I'm sure I had Download Helper working in the past, but when I tried it
last week I couldn't find its icon. Went to the FAQ and followed the
instructions, but still no icon, and the only way to invoke it is via
the icon. I suspect that some FF upgrade clobbered it.

I ended up using Clipnabber. It's not a utility to download, just a web
site where you enter the desired URL:

Thanks. I got that working without any hassle at all.

For a series of videos it's much easier to write a shell script and set
them off downloading, and you can log any errors along the way.
