hi,

i have downloaded the latest ECTS from codeplex (dated jul 21st) and am
having issues. i also tried the one from MSFT's site and it won't even
install on Win2008. saw many issues regarding that and the found an article
by David Mowers stating there was a bug in the assemblies and he fixed it
with the jul 10/21st release. so i got it and it installed just fine unlike
the one from msft. however, whenever any user attempts to logon to site
they experience the redirection issue.

site layout is:

i have three site collections:
1) / (root) https://extranet.domain.com
2) /sites/parta https://extranet.domain.com/sites/parta
3) /sites/partb https://extranet.domain/sites/partb

ECTS is installed on #1 (root) and user management and site management web
part pages are there. both are configured. external users have been
created.

external users are only created in either /sites/parta or /sites/partb
collections and are part of the members group. after created i approved
them using the ects user manager and approver web parts that are in root
collection.

however, when you go to either extranet.domain.com and enter username and
password you get a page cannot be displayed. i have seen the msdn articles
stating that external user must have rights two levels down for redirection
to work and the external user indeed has rights to only /sites/parta or
/sites/partb. the url after i click logon button is:
https://extranet.domain.com/_layouts/ExternalCollaboration/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f

now if i simply change url to https://extranet.domain.com an access denied
error (rightfully so) since user doesn't have rights on the root collection.

however, if close browser and reopen and goto
https://extranet.domain.com/sites/parta and enter username and password i
receive a white page with on the text of "404 NOT FOUND" on it. not a
standard ie error page. the url when "404 NOT FOUND" displayed is
https://extranet.domain.com/sites/_layouts/ExternalCollaboration/changeqa.aspx?ReturnUrl=/sites/parta

BUT, if i simply change url to https://extranet.domain.com/sites/parta the
site is displayed as it should. so i know the logon was successful. the
problem is that after logon redirection doesn't occur to site.

please help! :) how do i get up and running as we have tried every
combination for over a week now with ZERO success. need to provide solution
to customer.
