You should see some of the theming threads out there, either for
Winterboard or LockInfo. They make MySpace pages look conservative. What
astounds me is not that people create these themes (I can understand
thinking that lime green "horror" fonts "would be cool", even if I
disagree); it's that people carry on using them. I don't understand how
they can get past a few minutes of having them before realising that
they make the phone impossible to use.

Then again, it's not just the users. Have you seen some of the official
animated wallpapers that ship with Android? Actually, come to think of
it, have you seen the Mario animated wallpaper, and the reactions to it?
Talk about destroying any ease of use your phone may have had...

Actually I think tis is one of the reasons that in a few years android
will be much more the norm than the iPhone in the not too distant future
(which is good as I am looking forward to calling android owners fashion
victims!). One of the things that appealed to a lot of people is that
they really did want green text on a cyan background.
Myspace did well *because* people wanted flashing backgrounds and black
on black text, not dispite of it.
Where I work, memos and emails from secretaries and other departments
often come in comic sans. And that includes emails from the MoD.

I think one of apples major problems is forgetting that once they sell
someone, it is no longer their property.
