I am really beginning to feel stupid. I have SBS2003 with ISA2004.
Everything is fine. I have loaded Blackberry Professional Server and am
happily running with 6 Blckberry's syncing wirelessly. When it comes to
Activesync thoguh, I CANNOT figure out how to start, where to to find
management tools, how to setup or manage windows smartphones, Iphones,
Droids, Treos. I have read so many articles but CANNOT find ONE that simply
walks me through setting it up or even how to launch a management console, if
one exists. I am happy to learn technical things, although I am somewhat of
an IT novice, but is there someone out there who can give some step by steps
to bridge the gap between the BPS that I am familiar with, and using
activesync. Several people who have phone's have been waiting a week on me
and I am losing their patience i am afraid.

Thanks

If ya talking about getting active-sync to work (over the internet) on
Windows Mobile devices, all you need is Exhange Server at SP2 (SP2 is
the key thing here). And then in ADUC, just enable the users you want
for Mobile.

I assume it's all working for you, and you need the admin tools? ...

If ya talking about the management tools to do stuff like remote wipe
the Windows Mobile phones, you have to add this in.

And um... you need to do a custom install, as SBS has already "done
stuff" to the default website - and you'll mess things up if you just
install it.

Basically (IIRC), you set the default website back to it's default
settings - do the install - then put the SBS settings back to the
default website.

You should then have a 'MobileAdmin' website under the default website
to navigate to.

I can't find the article on the custom install sorry.

How do we setup our Exchange for OWA, OMA, ActiveSync and RPC over HTTPS

Then once configured, check out your configuration at:

Keep in mind with a self-signed cert that SBS provides, you will need to
install that on the Windows Mobile devices. However, iPhones provide an
option to trust the cert, unfortunately Windows Mobile phones do not. I've
heard that ActiveSync on the Droids is not the best. Treos would need to be
Windows based, otherwies if the Palm version, you may need to use IMAP, but
that doesn't support calendaring as we know it.

You may still need to setup the certs on the devices. Only way around that
is to purchase a public certificate.
