Some people have different anecdotes.

Cheers - Jaimie (doesn't like LaCie, but doesn't have
statistically valid samples)

I did find this today although I haven't yet had time to do a comparison

Yeah, I'd like time to compare the specs between the two.

Funny that isn't it? There are a lot of duplicates around though at the
moment - especially those with no stock...

Readynas DUOs are about 145 from many places
eg http://www.ebuyer.com/product/149510

You buy it without any drives but get a free 500GB drive after sending
in a claim form. My drive arrived quickly although I've not used it.
(I'm open to offers if anyone took advantage of the same deal and wants
a matched pair).

I'm very happy with mine, it can saturate my 100Mbit network and has
more features than I need[1].

On the Span/Scan thing I've bought from both without problems but
they're different types of shops. Span is a specialist so they're good
for things like firewire-SATA bridgeboards. Scan is a box-shifter so you
can get probably get a better price for bare drives from them.

and a Wake-On-Lan generation tool on the admin page.
