The OP wouldn't be >helped with it. Yes. That seems to be the case, for sure. However, despite that I did check it out anyway as I'm always interested in general search programs as I haven't liked anything after Win98SE's search function. This is an alternative though it doesn't beat out the $ware one I have. But it's an alternative. Can be found here at its original website: http://fsl.sytes.net/ssearch.html Agent Ransack still wins hands down! :)

Here is another to look at. Regex File Searcher http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/File-Management/Regex-File-Searcher.shtml http://softwarebybrian.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=2

Search utility to find files or folders on your hard drive or over a network using Regular Expressions. This is a new program and any bug reports or suggestions are welcome. New in version 1.4: Now the user can choose which file extensions they would like for the program to search in. In order for the program to look in a file the extension of the file must be listed in the programs extension list. This should speed up the search within files part alot. * Search for files using the power of Regular Expressions * Open folder for browsing or launch file after search * Options for case sensitivity, include path in search, subdirectories, and search in files * Version 1.4 added ability to choose file extensions * Requires the .NET platform to run" It's a small program, only about 64Kb "installed". No help files though. Agent Ransack still wins out because you save save the search criteria in it and then open the criteria when you're going to search. This is a big consideration because the regex settings I need would be tedious to enter in each time. I open the search criteria and just change the beginning and ending letter with AR. AR also doesn't require the .NET platform, a consideration for those with older OSs. But definitely one to keep if I can figure out how to get it to work *g*. thanks |
