Failing E450 PSU

From: Michael Laajanen on 16 Apr 2010 15:39 Hi, Just got a PSU failure on a E450 Apr 16 21:23:17 tango envctrl: [ID 771032 kern.warning] WARNING: Power Supply 2 NOT okay Apr 16 21:23:41 tango dhcpd: [ID 702911 local7.error] Dynamic and static leases present for 192.168.1.57. A and prtdiag gives Power Supplies: --------------- Supply Rating Temp Status ------ ------ ---- ------ 0 550 W 44 OK 1 550 W 47 OK 2 550 W 39 FAILED: DC Power Failure Are there any fuses or so that can be broken or is the PSU broken after 12 years of service (: ? The PSU is a ARTESYN 550W 220 AC. /michael

You got your money's worth and then some!! Replacements are going to be difficult to find. Next year it will be MORE difficult. If you intend to continue using this antique, perhaps you should start collecting spares. Of course the spares may also be ten or twelve years old. . . .

I know in the USA, a working E450 spare would cost LESS than a replacement PSU (probably <$100)

Is one PSU sufficient to run the machine on or will that overload the PSU? The machine is more or less fully loaded, 4CPU, 4GB RAM 4xGbE and 16x300GB, 2x73GB disk. /michael

The E450 has been rock solid until now(still no crash just a PSU fail), amazing machine! Takes alot power but, runs! /michael |
