From: JediSpork on 8 Mar 2010 04:48 Hello. I've been having some troubles with my stock cpu fan. I have a core 2 duo 6420 @ 2.13 ghz. When I shut the computer down the fan doesn't start up unless I give it a manual push or restart again. I can't find anywhere just to buy the fan. On newegg the cheapest decent heat sink fan combo is 50 bucks. I'm hesitant to spend 50 bucks on a older setup but I don't want to junk it either. Any other solutions? I leave my pc on all the time and seem to have a lot of problems with fans. Maybe I should look into using sleep modes. Do they normally disable the cpu fan? thanks

However, if you're out of warranty you should be able to get away with a 3rd part fan way less than $50. Take a look at the cpu fans and read the user reviews from newegg. I don't know your cpu form factor, but below is an example for $27 (shipping included) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835114073&cm_re=cpu_fans_%26_heatsinks-_-35-114-073-_-Product -- Jan Alter bearpuf(a)verizon.net
