Greetings!
I need to figure out how to pull this off:
We have an old accounting program that does not run well with XP Pro
over our SBS 2003 network. It was designed to run with Windows 2000 or
previous. We've decided to do something about it but what?
The software needs to run on two work stations, share data files, and
share printers. Otherwise it does not need to have anything to do with
the rest of our network.
It would be nice to run it on W2K but it would also be nice to have the
2 users running Office 2007 on the same machine and be joined to the
network. Does this sound possible and how?

Thank you very much!

You can join Win2k machines to the domain. I don't think Office 2007 will run on win2k though

I think you're right about Office. But the file format converter will allow
the users to work in Office 2003 but read and write the Office 2007 format
files.

Only way that I know would be to dual boot or give them two, maybe virtual,
workstations.

The others are correct, office 2007 does not run on Windows 2000, nor does
Office 2000 run on Win7.

I found out a few more details abouth our accounting program: it's only
been tested to run on XP Standard and previous, also SBS 2003 SP1 and
previous, also it conflicts with Office 2007.
Here's what we have:
XP Pro SP3 clients
SBS 2003 SP2
Office 2007

So I wonder- could I set it up so User1 is a dual boot - one with XP
Pro, Office 2007, the other with XP Stand. and the accounting program -
both on the domain, keeping all the accounting files on the XP Standard
client, then have User2 with full privleges to the XP Stand. using SBS
as just a go-between (not storing anything on the server but keeping all
accounting data on the XP Stand. client)?
Would this work?
