From: Paul Sture on 27 Jan 2010 13:08 I updated Firefox to 3.6 this weekend and find that it has changed its behaviour when downloading text files. Before I go through the potential pain of filing a bug report, has anyone else seen this? Dialog from FF 3.5.7 ------------------------------------------------------------ You have chosen to open example-file-1020-26.txt which is a: ASCII Text from: https://example.com What should Firefox do with this file? o Open with (Choose...) x Save File [] Do this automatically for files like this from now on. ------------------------------------------------------------ In FF 3.6, file type Text has been added in Preferences-> Applications, and the dialog above has changed so that instead of (Choose...) it displays TextEdit, and makes that the default action. From Preferences->Applications I cannot delete this entry. The "Do this automatically from now on" option is now greyed out. This new behaviour is a complete PITA, since I now need to click on the Save File button for every single download (and there are over 100 of these I do each month). I have now reverted to FF 3.5.7 Has anyone else found the same? (Running on OS X 10.5.8 PPC) -- Paul Sture |
