I don't want to disable it, I like the alert that it is on when I
start typing, and the quicker keyboard shortcut to change it.

I replaced that on my website with firstcap because it also manages
insert and numb lock.

Ok dokey, Caps Unlock suits my special need, I don't have much control
of my left hand.

Oh the usual story. Unfortunate victim of secret government transplant
experiment gone wrong. Woke up in hospital one day to find that the
left side of my body was being controlled by a goldfish. The doctors
tried to cover it up by claiming I'd had a stroke, but we know better
don't we;-)
