From: Lemuel Coalridge on 4 Jan 2010 21:37 Is this the proper group in which to ask about Mac-specific usage with LaTeX features that one once knew about on another system? Hearing no denials yet, I proceed: How would I get a good Garamond family installed in my TeX setup? It's gwtex, based, it says, on texlive. I really don't need to get an Adobe font and adapt it from scratch at a low level; just to use something already made, that works. Like what I have had available for the last dozen years elsewhere, which would be Adobe Garamond using whatzisname's implementation with the "pad" names. But I'm finding pad.txt pretty frustrating when it suggests, for instance, loading pad.zip from ctan. Not there, or hidden too well for me. I have spent some days looking into things, like the readily accessible documents and CTAN searches and nice keywords like "agaramon", not to mention downloading the stuff for the URW Garamond and trying to follow that out, and they all run into "consult your system's documentation" which never seems to be there or to have the info or "use this nice file" which turns out not to be findable on ctan or google. I must be doing something wrong. Any tangible information, involving web address that work, would be enormously appreciated. -- The Man from Porlock

Take a look in "The LaTeX Companion" for instance. Isaac

In Germany, there is de.comp.text.tex too and i suppose, there are other localized groups. I am not sure, but i think, gwtex is a little bit outdated. You might try to install MacTex-2009 which can be downloaded at www.tug.org/mactex/2009/downloading.html At http://www.tug.org/mactex/2009 you might get additional information on this system.
