Same thing happening here: Virgin Media, UK (A big one).

Misread OP: You can still POP.

I don't believe you. To block the web interface to Gmail would mean your
ISP was censoring to where you can browse the Net. Does your service
contract with them permit them to do that? To block POP, IMAP, and SMTP
access to Gmail's mail hosts also would require they censor your Net traffic
as to which hosts you can connect.

That your ISP doesn't provide e-mail services is NOT the same as what choice
YOU make for an e-mail provider.

Import what? To import means there are files from Tbird or other e-mail
clients for which Tbird will import old messages. So what is "it"? You
don't "import" e-mails from or to an e-mail server.

E-mail clients use established protocols for communicating with e-mail
servers. They don't care if you are using Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, your ISP,
or some other POP, IMAP, or SMTP mail server. Since Gmail supports both POP
and IMAP for retrieving e-mails and SMTP for sending them, you can use any
e-mail client that supports those communication protocols, and that includes
Tbird, OE, Outlook, Eudora, Pegasus, and a plethora of other e-mail clients.

The problem is not with the e-mail client. The problem is with how YOU are
trying to use it. You are not defining a proper account definition within
your e-mail client. You never divulged whether you want to use POP or IMAP
to retrieve e-mails. After you decide then you define an account in your
e-mail client that matches on the chosen protocol. You also have to enable
the server-side configuration of your Gmail account to enable access via the
chosen protocol. Did you do that? Did you read Gmail's web help pages on
how to setup your e-mail client AND how to configure the server-side
settings in your Gmail account to enable that access method? By default,
you only get access using their webmail client. You have to enable POP or
IMAP access, or both, to use those protocols to access your Gmail account.

Start at http://mail.google.com/support/. Then click on the protocol (POP
or IMAP) that you want to use to access your account by your local e-mail
client. Then read.

Work on the problem with your first account before trying to add multiple
accounts. E-mail clients support multiple accounts but you first have to
figure out how to define the first account so it works.

TB 3.04 works fine for Gmail-either pop or IMAP.

They do not show Thunderbird in this 'how to' -

I just created an account in Outlook7 but would prefer TBird as I have
saved all my mail/contacts there,
