Next: Freeware to break a PDF into sequential 1000K files for forumpostings?
From: Judy Zappacosta on 5 Jul 2010 15:44 I post to forums which have a 1000K limit on PDF files so I have to break larger files into smaller sequentially numbered files. Do you know of any freeware that will do that AUTOMATICALLY (based on a file size provided)? I already have Adobe Acrobat 6 which MANUALLY (auuurgh) deletes pages of PDF files and then has a manual shrink button to shrink the result down but it soooooo non linear that you can never guess. For example, a 4MB 400 page file might break into 100 pages for the first 1000K, and 15 pages for the second 1000K, and 1000 pages for the 3rd 1000K, etc. It's such a pain to do manually. Do you know of any software that can automatically break a PDF into 1000K sequential documents?

I really wasn't expecting any good answer (I was hoping, but wasn't expecting anyone to help me). If this works, it's WONDERFUL. I have Adobe Acrobat which won't even do this! I'll try it out and let you know! Thanks! Judy

I've turned off noscripts, I've turned off my hosts file, I've turned off my adblockers, but, still it won't download. Not easy to download; but I'll keep trying!

I use it to shrink pdfs, add, merge, and delete pages and to edit forms and to create PDFs out of other things and to create clickable PDFs out of web homes (it can go any number of levels deep). That's about all I need Adobe Acrobat Professional for: - shrink PDFs (dunno if any freeware can do this) - add pages (maybe this pdfsam can do that for us) - delete pages (maybe pdfsam freeware can do that too) - merge pages (maybe pdfsam freeware can do this) - edit forms (dunno what else can edit the PDF itself in situ) - edit properties (like security and ownership information) - create pdfs (certainly cutePDF freeware can do this) - create linked PDFs out of web pages (dunno anything else that can do this) So, assuming pdfsam can add, delete, and merge PDF pages, then the only thing that Adobe Acrobat Professional does for me that freeware won't is: - shrink PDFs - edit PDF text in situ - edit PDF properties - create linked PDFs out of web hierarchies

After turning off everything I could think of, I finally was able to download the exe file (but was never able to download the zip file) due to the horrendous amount of doubleclick.net type referrals and pop-up advertisements at that specific web page! sourceforge.net -> ad.doubleclick.net -> zillions of other unrelated web sites which flashed by so fast I couldn't write them down...
