Why do you keep on saying that when you've been told repeatedly by quite a few people that there's RAM built in to the motherboard? Sure, you've ruled out the 1 GB DIMM, but... > This is bad news and perhaps > it may be time to buy a macBook Pro. > But I may wait as 2 GB RAM and a 160GB hard drive is not much to be > prepared for Mac OS 11 and to run XP at the same time. Mac OS 11? How can you know what you need to prepare for an OS version that doesn't exist anywhere, including at Apple? -- My latest dance performance <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_9pudbFisE> Mac and geek T-shirts & gifts <http://designsbymike.net/shop/mac.cgi> Prius shirts/bumper stickers <http://designsbymike.net/shop/prius.cgi>

I'd be surprised if Apple isn't working on OS X 10.7 already, but how can you possibly prepare for that? Certainly any new Mac will run the successor to Snow Leopard, but who knows after that, and no one has ever said anything about there even being something called Mac OS 11. -- My latest dance performance <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_9pudbFisE> Mac and geek T-shirts & gifts <http://designsbymike.net/shop/mac.cgi> Prius shirts/bumper stickers <http://designsbymike.net/shop/prius.cgi>

You want to know if your computer will be able to run an OS that doesn't exist, for which no specifications are available and will not be available until some unspecified date in the future. What exactly do you want someone to tell you? See into the future and be sure to buy whatever you'll need on whichever date. And be sure to carry an umbrella because it's going to rain that day. Seriously, John, no one can tell you what the OS after Snow Leopard will have as requirements. Anything you buy new now will certainly be able to run it, though. If you buy a used computer maybe not, but no one can tell you which Intel processors will be out of the loop on a certain date or what future RAM requirements will be. You can always upgrade the RAM and get a bigger hard drive later, and both will cost less then, for most any value of "then", than they do now. -- My latest dance performance <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_9pudbFisE> Mac and geek T-shirts & gifts <http://designsbymike.net/shop/mac.cgi> Prius shirts/bumper stickers <http://designsbymike.net/shop/prius.cgi>

Requires a minimum of 16 20GHz quad-core Intel Generation VI 18 micron process CPUs, each with a minimum of 3 gigs of level 1 cache (8 gigs recommended), plus 10 gigs of level 2 cache per core No less than 32 terabytes of quantum interference RAM - 64 terabytes highly recommended. 180 Petabytes of free disk space - SSD is highly recommended (Note: Installation of optional developer tools will require an additional 26 Petabytes) Graphics card capable of displaying holographic imagery at a resolution of no less than 1024x1024x1024 pixels per cubic centimeter through the built-in WozView eye-phone port (Note: Machines not equipped with the WozView port are not capable of running Mac OS 11) SOGO-7 data gloves, Revision 18.2.11 or later. Notice: In compliance with the recent decision handed down by the EU supreme council on worldwide copyright enforcement, previous revisions ARE NOT compatible. 24 Gigabit/second JobsNet connection recommended -- Email shown is deceased. If you would like to contact me by email, please post something that makes it obvious in this or another group you see me posting in with a "how to contact you" address, and I'll get back to you.
