Observations:
A majority of people who hang out on A.C.F. are semi-retired/retired or
dead and use a limited subset of relatively simple software. They have
a narrow list of favorite programs which get nominated and voted for
year after year in the annual PL fest. Some better alternatives or
other world class programs are ignored because these people have little
interest in any s/w which is of no perceived use to them personally,
however good it is. Most of these people are not professional techies,
just users who have little knowledge of what goes on under the bonnet.

A fair number of others are involved in some way - either as their job
or in a small self employed business or neighorhood support club etc
-- in PC systems support, occasionally some small server support. Some
of these people have a background in coding. These are the people joe
public calls when his PC falls over. These people only have an interest
in freeware which they think might be good for their clients via the PL
list CD.

I know of nobody here who has any professional experience in system
design, software selection/design or system project management etc,
although I'm sure there are one or two about.

What has Bear ever done to you? What have I ever done to you?

Let's be friends. Let's be reasonable. Fancy a reach around?

I think the people here download and test more software than average.
I also think their tech knowledge is higher than average.

Don't judge others by yourself...

Just judging by what I've been reading here over the years.
