Is it something like Skype?

No. Google Voice gives you a free telephone number that can be
forwarded to multiple phone numbers. Also provides ancillary phone
services such as voicemail, call blocking, etc.

I know more about GV than you can possibly imagine.

Mikey, I gave up here. One posts about a nice product and the crowd is
just keen about to deconstruct your finding in any possible manner.
You say A, they say...

"...I know B which does the same" (who asked for?)

"...I know C which does the same or better" (..and cost $30.- -> off
topic)

"...I heard from a friend of my aunt's former teacher that A performs
less than D" (but actually never tried himself and has no evidence at
all)

"...A may be nice but E is also cool" (where E is a totally different
application and has nothing to do with A's purpose or functionality)

"...I believe that it must be spyware because it is free. Something
must be wrong with it" (and what is with all the other freeware? Can
you say paranoid?)

"...I just can't admit that A is cool. Oh well, just look at the
installer. I don't like its splash screen color."

The holy grail of filling every post with bullshit supreme. You can
have it. There's not enough useful brains to make a useful post in
this entire newsgroup.

How about that, huh? Useful enough for you?
